Maxwell Byrne is a Grammy Award Nominated songwriter, producer and vocalist who started his career in 2016 under the moniker "Golden vessel" where he released a collection of exceptional singles including ‘Control’, Borrowed’ Time’ & ‘Cant Stay’, as well as a song titled ‘Hesitate’ which features one of his regular collaborators, Emerson Leif, and has become one of his most successful releases to-date with over 28 million streams on Spotify alone. Golden Vessel also has four outstanding albums under its belt "SLOWSHINE", "colt", "everythingeverydayeverything" and "Making Friends With The Space Around Me" which was a collaborative effort with one of his good friends and talented artist Headaches (aka E^ST).

Golden Vessel has completed three Australian headline tours as well as supporting the likes of Willow Beats, The Kite String Tangle, Jai Wolf and Sofi Tukker across Australia. He was also the main support for BAYNK on a 13-date North American tour in February 2019, he performed five showcases at SXSW 2019 and then embarked on his own 21-date North American headline tour in July 2019.

“everythingeverydayeverything” was released in July 2022 via sumoclic; an indie label that Maxwell Byrne co-owns with his good friend and long-time collaborator Connor Grant (aka Akurei & HARLEY GIRL). That album features a stellar cast of guest co-writers including The Nicholas, Mallrat, Emerson Leif, Felivand, Japanese Wallpaper, Nick Ward, E^ST, Instupendo, Akurei, Abraham Tilbury, Rei So La, Lonelyspeck and Fear Gorta across its eleven songs, and it was mixed by George Nicholas who is known for his role in Australian electronic group Seekae.

In early 2023 Maxwell Byrnes was nominated for a GRAMMY AWARD for his work on BAYNK’s song ’Till It’s Even’ which was part of his album “ADOLESCENCE” (2023) – they didn’t win but it was pretty great to score the nomination!

Around that time Golden Vessel was working on a collaborative four-track ep called “Golden Vessel Produced by Filous”, which he wrote on a hilltop in the Austrian countryside with his good friend Filous. They also created two music videos for the project, one of which included the construction of a giant hamster wheel and cage inside a living room (watch that here).

While all of that was happening Maxwell had already started working on another collaborative project with his good friend Melisa Bester (fka E^ST), who was launching her latest artist alias Headaches. They gave us the first single off that album in in November 2023, beginning the anticipation build for their stunning eight-track album “Making Friends With The Space Around Me”, which was released in May 2024 and has already collected over 700k streams on Spotify alone.

In 2019, Maxwell delved into the realms of house music while curating tracks for his DJ gigs at “Sumoclic Nights”; a monthly event series that he hosted in Brisbane. This exploration inspired Maxwell to create a variety of original songs for him to include in his own DJ sets, and eventually evolving into a compelling collection of songs that he was excited to somehow share with a wider audience, and ultimately giving birth to his new project, 1tbsp.

In early 2021 Maxwell released the project’s debut ep “kanashī,” which was released via the newly founded imprint “Sumoclic”; a new independent record label that he co-owned with his friend Connor Grant (aka Akurei & Harley Girl).

Inspired by such a positive response, Maxwell continued to craft more music for the 1tbsp project, releasing double-singles “Dhollandia // Circles” and “Stay Up // Rest”, while also expanding his performances to festivals and events, supporting artists like Young Franco, BAYNK, DJ Seinfeld and Sofi Tukker for their Australian tours.

Throughout 2022, Byrne collaborated with Nick Ward, Allan McConnell, Squidgenini, and Sampology, culminating in the four-track EP “Joan,” which was released in December to high praise and acclaim from music fans and curators across the globe.

Entering 2023 on a high note, Byrne dropped three stellar singles – “Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound,” “No Nein (feat. Mietze Conte),” and “Four Tet Is My Godmother.” This marked the precursor to his upcoming EP, “It’s Very Loud,” released on March 16th via Sumoclic. The EP, featuring those singles plus another previously unheard gem, including the title track “It’s Very Loud,” co-written with Squidgenini.

In early 2023, Maxwell Byrne earned a Grammy Award nomination for his work on BAYNK’s song ‘Till It’s Even’, and although they didn’t secure a win, the nomination was a proud achievement.

By this time the 1tbsp trajectory was at full speed. He gave us the project’s debut album, “Mosquito Love,” in August 2023, comprising of eight tracks that helped solidified 1tbsp’s presence on the global scene, shedding its “side-project” label and now standing proudly alongside Golden Vessel as Maxwell’s second main venture.

Closing out 2023 and rolling into 2024, 1tbsp teamed up with Australian artist/producer Jai Piccone (also known for his role in Australian band Tora) for a three-track ep titled “Shine Love In“.

That ep was clearly just a warm-up for what Maxwell had in-store for us this year as he soon after released three new 1tbsp singles with ‘Starchitect’, ‘Limosina (feat. Cherry Chola)’ and ‘The City Never Felt So Good’, thus beginning the anticipation build for 1tbsp’s next album “Megacity1000”. That album was released in August to much acclaim, gaining recognition and support from popular media outlets such as Pitchfork, MixMag, CLASH, Line of Best Fit and EARMILK just to name a few.

On the home touring front, 1tbsp conducted a successful nine-date Australian tour in 2023, which included a spot on the “Groovin’ The Moo” festival, as well as hosting a Sold Out EP launch party in Brisbane named “It’s Very Loud.” Byrne showcased at BIGSOUND in September, secured a spot in the Listen Out touring festival across Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, he was selected to perform at the inaugural SXSW Sydney in October, and was also invited to play at the Sydney-leg of Laneway Festival in February 2024.

Following those Australian shows, Byrne then embarked on a seven-date North American tour playing to packed rooms in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Toronto and Montreal.

In August 2024, 1tbsp returned to North America for a nine-date tour to help promote his new album, “Megacity1000”. He played to SOLD-OUT crowds in NYC, San Francisco, Chicago and Mexico City, and also came very close to selling out in Los Angeles. He then returned to Australia in September for a co-headline tour with his good friend Mietze Conte which SOLD-OUT shows in Brisbane and Sydney, as well as two shows in Melbourne.

Maxwell is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He has just recently shared a new single called ‘Wet Peak Stars’ which features Mexican artist Meth Math helping out on vocals. That song also came with the announcement of a whole-new EP in the works as well as a USA & Mexico tour that is taking place throughout February/March 2025.
